“Arrogant and offensive. Can you imagine having to work with these truth twisters?,” read a tweet from the @UKCivilService Twitter account, which has just over 250,000 followers.
The tweet—which quickly went viral—was posted shortly after the end of a briefing by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who backed his chief advisor Dominic Cummings for having good “instincts” in breaking both lockdown and quarantine measures.
At the press conference, Johnson had dismissed criticism of Cummings’ decision to drive to his parents’ estate after his wife became ill, saying Cummings had been trying to keep his family safe.

Hungary plans to erect a monument in memory of 25 Koreans killed in a deadly boat sinking in Budapest last year.
The memorial stone will be set up near the accident site in the Danube River, where the Korean tourists aboard a sightseeing boat went missing after the vessel collided with a bigger cruise line on May 29.
Bodies of 24 people have been retrieved, but one person still remains unaccounted for.
헝가리는 지난해 부다페스트에서 발생한 치명적인 보트 침몰 사고로 숨진 한국인 25명을 추모하는 기념비를 세울 계획이다.

The coronavirus pandemic will cause the U.S. to lose more than $4.5 billion from foreign college students, according to a survey conducted in April.
“With travel restrictions, visa delays, and economic instability worldwide, COVID-19 has been incredibly harmful to the field of international education," said Esther Brimmer, the executive director and CEO of the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers. "We need Congress to support legislation to ensure U.S. students remain globally competitive at a time where we cannot afford to lose our competitive edge," said Brimmer.
코로나바이러스 대유행으로 인해 미국은 외국인 대학생들로부터 45억 달러 이상의 손실을 보게 될 것이라는 조사 결과가 4월에 나왔다.
에스더 브림머 전미외국인고문협회 전무 겸 CEO는 "전 세계적으로 여행 제한과 비자 지연, 경제 불안 등으로 COVID-19는 국제교육 분야에 엄청나게 해로웠다"고 말했다. 브림머 교수는 "경쟁력을 잃을 수 없는 상황에서 미국 학생들이 글로벌 경쟁력을 유지할 수 있도록 의회가 법률을 뒷받침할 필요가 있다"고 말했다.
