HEADLINE 1

The death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. has surpassed the 100,000 mark amid rising criticism of President Trump’s lack of capacity for empathy.

 

트럼프 대통령의 공감 능력 부족에 대한 비판이 고조되는 가운데 미국 COVID-19 대유행으로 인한 사망자 수가 10만 명을 넘어섰다.

Protesters have clashed with Minneapolis police over the death of an unarmed African-American man in police custody.

Police in Japan have arrested the man suspected of carrying out an arson attack on the Kyoto Animation studio last year that killed 36 people.

 

일본 경찰은 지난해 교토 애니메이션 스튜디오에서 36명의 목숨을 앗아간 방화 사건을 벌인 혐의를 받고 있는 이 남성을 체포했다.

 

arson - the crime of deliberately making something burn, especially a building

The former head of the Russian region of Chuvashia has filed a lawsuit against President Vladimir Putin challenging a presidential decree that removed him from office.

 

전 러시아 추바샤 지역 수장이 블라디미르 푸틴 대통령을 대통령직에서 해임한 대통령령에 이의를 제기하는 소송을 제기했다.

There are still large gaps in the financial aid needed to help airlines survive the COVID-19 crisis.

IATA, the trade association for the world's airlines, expects the airline industry's global debt could rise to $550 billion by the end of this year.

IATA CEO Alexandre de Juniac explained that, due to governments' COVID-19 interventions, the airline industry was blocked from operating as an economic sector. Therefore, it would be appropriate to ask governments to help revive the industry.

 

항공사들이 COVID-19 위기에서 살아남도록 돕기 위해 필요한 재정 지원에는 여전히 큰 격차가 있다.

세계항공사 무역협회 IATA는 올해 말까지 항공업계의 글로벌 부채가 5500억달러까지 늘어날 수 있을 것으로 전망하고 있다.

알렉산드르 드 주니악 IATA CEO는 각국 정부의 COVID-19 개입으로 항공산업이 경제 분야로 운영되지 못하게 됐다고 설명했다. 그러므로, 정부들에게 그 산업을 되살리는데 도움을 요청하는 것이 적절할 것이다.

A third of Americans are showing symptoms of clinical anxiety, depression or both, new data from the Census Bureau has revealed.

The results are an alarming sign of how the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent shutdowns have taken their toll on the mental health of the general public.

Ten out of every 100 American adults are showing symptoms of depression, four out of every 100 have symptoms of anxiety and 20 Americans out of every 100 have both, according to the findings.

 

미국인의 3분의 1이 임상적 불안, 우울증, 혹은 둘 다의 증상을 보이고 있다고 인구조사국의 새로운 자료가 밝혔다.

이 결과는 코로나바이러스 대유행과 그에 따른 셧다운이 일반인들의 정신건강에 얼마나 큰 타격을 입혔는지를 보여주는 놀라운 신호다.

조사결과에 따르면 미국 성인 100명 중 10명이 우울증 증세를 보이고 있으며, 100명 중 4명은 불안 증세를 보이고 있으며 100명 중 20명은 우울증 증세를 보이고 있다.

Nearly nine years after the final NASA space shuttle mission lifted off, two astronauts will put everything on the line to make history.

Strapped into a bus-sized capsule, Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley will become the first humans to ride onboard a commercial shuttle service engineered by Elon Musk's SpaceX company.

This will be the first time a NASA mission will be launched from U.S. soil since the space shuttle program wound down. The test flight is expected to herald in a new era for NASA and open up commercial space travel.

 

NASA의 마지막 우주왕복선 임무가 해제된 지 거의 9년이 지난 후, 두 명의 우주비행사가 역사를 만들기 위해 모든 것을 투입할 것이다.

버스 크기의 캡슐에 묶인 밥 번켄과 더그 헐리는 일론 머스크의 스페이스X 회사가 만든 상용 셔틀 서비스에 탑승한 최초의 인간이 될 것이다.

우주왕복선 프로그램이 종료된 이후 미국 땅에서 NASA 임무가 발사되는 것은 이번이 처음이다. 이번 시험 비행은 NASA의 새로운 시대를 예고하고 상업적인 우주 여행을 열 것으로 예상된다.
