여러분은 신문이나 잡지, 혹은 간편식이나 샐러드 등 매번 받아보는 서비스가 있으신가요?

옛날에는 종이신문이나 잡지를 구독하는 사람들이 꽤 있었는데, 요즘에는 그마저도 다 온라인 구독으로 바뀌고 있는 추세입니다.

음악, 비디오 혹은 전자책 처럼 무형의 디지털 콘텐츠를 구독하는 사람들도 많이 늘고 있구요.

유무형을 가리지 않고, 음식까지 받아보는 구독 경제, 어디까지 할 수 있을까요?

[Study Group Questions]

 

 

1. Why do you think the subscription economy is becoming bigger and bigger?

 

I think that's because the ways of getting subscription have been bigger and also, the number of things that we can subscribe have been bigger as well.

Instead of getting a paper newspaper everyday in the morning at my doorstep, we can get a mobile newspaper through our smartphones everywhere in the world.

We can store almost everything on our smartphones, which has been elimitated the limitation of space and time.

Once we have something subscribed, they don't get worn out and stay forever as long as we pay steadily.

Also, they don't take any space, which will make it easy to carry them around everywhere.

 

 

2. What aspects of the subscription economy have influenced your life?

 

Since I have become a minimalist, I am more like using subscription services than before.

I don't really like having too many stuffs at home, so that I would rather rent something for months or more.

For example, I don't subscribe paper newspaper, but mobile newspaper via email.

What's more, I don't buy a book, when I can borrow or rent it.

I wish there would be a popular clothes rental service, so that I can borrow some clothes for this summer.

The weather is getting hot and I don't have enough clothes in the closet, and I want to have some more clothes for special days in this summer.

It feels like wasting money to buy too decorated clothes only for one or two days a year, and I just want to borrow those kinds through clothing rental services.

 

 

3. Talk about something that you subscribe on a monthly basis.

 

I don't have anything that I subscibe on a monthly basis.

But I have two news letters via email on a daily basis.

One is a new letter which explains economy in the world and how the stock goes by issues.

The other is Times morning news feed, which I don't perfectly read, but wish to read it well later.

For your information, there is some things that I want to subscribe so far.

I want to have YouTube Primium service to get rid of all ads between videos and it also allows me to listen to its music in a background way.

I also want to have an e-book subscription service, that allows me to read books anywhere and anytime.
