[EBS 입트영] Videoconferences(화상 회의) May 25th

기술이 발달하면서, 업무 회의를 하는 데 있어 점점 물리적인 거리의 제약이 사라지고 있습니다.

인터넷만 통한다면 세계 어느 지역에서든 서로를 바라보며 즉각적으로 소통할 수 있게 되었죠.

특히 이번 코로나바이러스 사태로 인해, 많은 회사가 재택업무를 하며 회의도 화상으로 돌리는 경우가 많았습니다.

오늘도 EBS 입이 트이는 영어와 함께 화상 회의에 관련된 표현들을 공부하고 짧은 에세이를 써보도록 해요~!

1. Why do you think videoconferencing has become more common?

 

I think that is because of development of technology from the last few years.

With internet, we can be connected to anyone, anywhere and anytime we want.

Also, traveling a long way is very time consuming only to have a meeting in person.

That is becuase a lot of people take videoconferncing is more efficient, I believe.

With videoconferencing, it doesn't matter how many people we have for meeting.

The only thing they need for the meeting is a laptop computer and internet!

What a time to be alive!

 

제 생각에 그 이유는 지나 몇 년간 있었던 기술의 발전 때문인 것 같습니다.

인터넷과 함께라면, 우리는 언제나 어디서나 우리가 원할 때 누구와도 연결될 수 있습니다.

또한, 단지 직접 회의를 하기 위해서 먼 거리를 이동하는 것은 시간을 많이 잡아먹기도 하고요.

이러한 이유로 많은 사람들이 화상 회의를 더 효율적으로 받아들인다고 생각해요.

화상 회의를 할 때, 얼마나 많은 사람들이 회의에 참여하는지는 별 문제가 되지 않죠.

그들이 회의를 위해 필요한 것은 오직 노트북과 인터넷뿐입니다.

얼마나 살기 좋은 세상인가요!

 

2. Describe some situations in which videoconferences are not as effective.

 

Well... in my opinion, when the meeting should be a secret, having a videoconference for it will not be that safe.

In any way, the video could be recorded and spread in a bad way later.

Therefore, in that case, people should get together in person for the meeting for security.

Also, when the meeting is supposed to make relationships, it will be better to meet up in person.

I don't think videoconfernces can stand in for real meeting when it comes to shaking hands and having meals together.

 

글쎄요... 제 의견으로는, 회의가 비밀리에 진행되어야 할 때에는 화상 회의가 그다지 안전하지 않은 것 같아요.

어떤 식으로든, 동영상은 녹음될 수 있고 나중에 안 좋은 방향으로 퍼질 수 있으니까요.

그래서 이런 경우에는 사람들끼리 직접 만나서 안전하게 회의를 가져야 해요.

또한, 회의가 친목도모를 위한 것이라면, 사람들끼리 직접 다 모이는 것이 좋겠죠.

악수를 하고 식사를 같이 하는 데 있어서, 회상 회의는 진짜 회의를 대신할 수 없다고 생각해요.

 

3. What are some other types of technology that make work more efficient?

 

Even as a part time worker at a restaurant, I am surprised at how well the system is working for checking working hours.

I worked at the same restaurant company a few years ago, but the system was not this well organized at the time.

We used to check our working hours by writing on the paper, but now the system has changed to check it with our phones.

When we open our phone and sign in, the bluetooth machine automatically catch our signal and record it...!

There has been no fake anymore in our working hours..^.^

 

심지어 레스토랑에서 아르바이트를 하면서도, 근무시간 체크를 하는 데 있어서 시스템이 얼마나 잘 돌아가는지 놀랍니다.

저는 몇 년 전 같은 레스토랑 회사에서 일했었는데요, 그땐 시스템이 이렇게 체계적이지 못했습니다.

직접 손으로 종이 위에 쓰면서 근무시간을 체크하곤 했었지요, 하지만 지금은 시스템이 바뀌어서 폰으로 근무시간 체크를 한답니다.

우리가 폰을 켜서 로그인하면, 블루투스 기계가 자동으로 신호를 잡아서 근무시간을 기록합니다.

근무시간에 있어서는 한 치의 거짓도 없어진 것이죠..ㅎㅎ
